The Norfolk Tides lost 4-1 at home tonight against the Durham Bulls — their fourth loss in as many games against the Bulls.
“Dean Kremer was great, and Michael Forret was great for [Durham],” said Corey Phillips, who attended the game tonight on a whim.
Phillips, who lives in Salisbury, Maryland and works in Accomack County, Virginia, said that he decided to drive down for the game after leaving work.
“I was bored,” Phillips said.
The Bulls are ranked first in the International League East Division, while the Tides are ranked next-to-last.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Enrique Bradfield Jr. ran home on a groundout from Jud Fabian. The Tides kept momentum up on defense in the eighth inning, that is until Oliver Dunn sent a ball over the back fence with two on base to put the Bulls up 3-1. The Bulls scored again in the ninth inning to reach the final score: 4-1.
It was Tribute to Special Warfare Night at Harbor Park tonight, with the Tides honoring active-duty military and veterans at various points throughout the game.
Additionally, the Tides gave away 2,500 Dylan Beavers Bobblecards to fans to commemorate Beavers’ 2025 International League MVP season.
Beavers was called up to the Baltimore Orioles’40-man roster for 2026, but, according to ESPN, is rehabbing an oblique injury in the minor leagues.
Harbor Park put on a fireworks show for fans after the game ended. The show lasted for approximately five minutes.
According to the Tide’s schedule, they are set to play the Bulls two more times this week, on Saturday and Sunday. After their series against the Bulls, the Tides will travel to play a series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple A affiliate of the New York Yankees. The series will likely not be a respite for the Tides, though, as the RailRiders are currently ranked fourth in the International League East Division.
